In my family, education is extremely important. My mother and father stay on me and my siblings about our grades and we are expected to do well in school at all times. I usually keep good grades and I am a very hard worker. This class has been the most difficult class I have had since being at DSA. I couldn’t figure out why I just couldn’t keep up wit this class.
Since COVID-19 it has been a little difficult to stay focused and adjust to doing all my work online. My mom is working from home too so we had a family meeting and decided that we needed to have structure just like a regular school day in order for help our focus. Each morning we all get up and hop on our computers by 9am. We have to come out of our bedrooms and downstairs to a quiet room to work. No TVs are allowed to be on. Sometimes my mom plays soft music in the background while we all work. By 2pm if we are all finished, we can go on with whatever we want to do for the rest of the day. If I am still working on assignments, I may take a break then keep working. Also, to make sure I don’t miss any assignments, each Sunday I write down everything that is due the upcoming week for every class and I review it with my mom. She checks back in on Friday morning to be sure I completed everything. Most of my teachers send a text when they are having extras Zooms or extra credit assignments. That is helpful. I also keep in touch with my classmates from all my classes in case I miss a zoom or something. It was really rough at first but I have a good flow now and I am doing well and keeping up with everything. I really miss being in school but it is cool getting to hang out with my family every day.

For the graphic “COVID19 - The New Norm” I wanted to show a graphic of what society looks like today and how COVID has affected us. The sanitizer bottle and soap represent our everyday focus to keep our hands clean so that we don’t spread germs to each other. The coronavirus ball represents the actual coronavirus that has spread all over our country and has killed many people. The mask is the focus point of the graphic because it represents what we all see when we see each other now. It represents keeping our face protected from the virus and also preventing us from spreading the virus to others. Everywhere we turn we see masks and now everyone is required to wear them in our city.
I used Illustrator to create the vector images, hand sanitizer and soap. I used Photoshop to create the bitmap images, mask and corona ball. Illustrator is easier to use because I know the application better and everything's so easy to find, I can work with ease. Photoshop is harder for me because there are a lot of tools I haven't learned or mastered yet and it kept freezing so I would always have to start over. My experience with Rush was super easy. I understood everything in the application and how it worked. For my assignment I used some pictures from Pixabay, downloaded them and dropped them in the application. After that I clicked create, Rush put it in order for me. When I got to that part I shortened some videos and added a title and subtitle to it. I used blue themed pictures to give it an aqua vibe and it turned out great. I didn't have any trouble at all with this application. It was quick and easy, plus the application does some of it for you and is very fluid. I could see using rush to set up a business that just wanted to show a slideshow of recurring pictures in the background. There's also something similar to that at my mother's job in the library. Overall out of all the applications Rush is the best and easiest editing software to use.
My experience with after effects was really interesting. I really enjoyed it at the end because my project came out pretty cool. I can tell that there is a lot more you can do with after effects because there were a lot of sections with all types of options to choose from. I feel like I only used very little of the application. The easiest part was inserting and adding animation to the text. I like to play with different fonts. A lot of fonts are used across multiple applications. I appreciate this application also because it's one of the smoothest software to use. The most complicated part that I had some trouble with was using the key frames, I feel like they could make that part a little easier to use. I found that this application is very similar to animate because they both are used to make and edit videos. After effect is a bit easier because I understood where everything went and how to use it, but with animation I had a very difficult time placing the background behind my character. Overall After effects is a very good tool to use and I would definitely use it again in the future.
Animation can be used for many different types of things such as Gaming, entertainment, commercials, Marketing, creative arts, and many other things. Overall about animation, that's pretty much what it's used for and how it's used. My experience with animation has been the most difficult for me to understand. Even though instructions were given me I still had a hard time completing the assignment. I tried to follow the instructions in the video but when I would get through a step it would erase everything without it being saved. I had to start over a few times. I really wanted to learn about animation because I like cartoons and anime. I have some other difficult times with animation unlike the other applications when I tried logging in sometimes the app wont pop up or it would freeze and I don't know if it would be my computer acting funny or the app. I compare my experience with animate and Photoshop because they both are very difficult and hard in their own ways and not as easy as illustrator. I plan to come in for tutoring to understand it a lot better, I think It can be a very fascinating topic if I get used to it and get the feel for the application.
So far in this class I have been really good with understanding the applications and getting to know the class better. At the beginning of the year I had a rocky start but once we started a new application I was familiar with how things worked. These last few weeks I have been making good grades ever since my seat changed and I've been more focused. This quarter I have been very efficient with the pen tool because it's really helpful and cool to use, all my projects have been based and held off of the one tool. Whenever I use the tool nothing goes wrong, the process for the tool is basically a trace over. For the rest of the year though me personally I think it's only going to get harder from here based on how well I know the application, from what I heard it's definitely harder. My sketches haven't really been successful though. I can definitely put more effort into my sketches because they are bringing down a piece of my grade and it hurts. Sometimes I miss my portfolio and portfolio checks and that brings down my grade a lot, it's a big part of my grade. My class work has been very good and organized I just have to add the other pieces if I want my grade to be good.
My experience with Illustrator has actually been really easy. I´m understanding the tools and doing my work efficiently, plus its kind of fun. So far we are still in digital design and animation working with Illustrator, we have been in 2D graphics for a while now too. All assignments we have done so far have not been trouble and i think its because of the tools and how we got to play a game teaching us the tools before we moved into Illustrator. The only hard thing on Illustrator for me is combining shapes, when i put a shape on top of another its just the next step. Mr. B has showed me many times but he has also done it for me so instead of me doing it he does it. Illustrator can get tricky when your trying to change the angle of a shape like a half circle, it will only let you change the size, width, and length of the circle without a special technique or something like that. Overall Illustrator is a great application with a lot of good resources to help. If i were to compare this to photo shop i would say they are nothing alike except for the tool. I would say that Illustrator in my opinion is way better because i understand the tools to it and i just feel like photo shop involves a lot more experience to know how to really work with it. We just jumped right in with photo shop, With Illustrator he gave us time to understand the application and get the feel of it. But anyway this was my experience with Illustrator so far
Overall spider man was a really great, and fun game to play. I was very impressed and happy withe the game but it was too short. Spider man was definitely worth its money, they added a lot of detail and real life in to that game. I wouldn´t recommend this game for people who aern´t MCU fans or unless your really interested in spider man cause it can really get boring after a while. They did a good job with making the plot based off of into the spider-verse movie, plus a lot of characters from past spider man movies were shown. The dialogue was just ok cause of the fact that they just threw a bunch of fighting scenes in it and let it go. The graphics on spider man were amazing, The view of the sun and the well crafted buildings topped it off. The brightness was just right. There wasn´t really music, it was just fighting noises and weapons. Also the Amazing spider man theme song. I could totally understand the grammer and text throughout the game.
My experiences with Photoshop have been very difficult and hard. I have not been able to use it efficiently because of all the tools, I have been really confused and unorganized. Most of the time I forget to save my work or how to save my work and I end up having to ask for help or it gets deleted. The tools in Photoshop can be easy when you get use to it but I just haven´t been getting the hang of it. Making things in Photoshop can actually be fun and relaxing if i was good at it, but I don ́t know if i´m naturally not good or just not trying. The shortcuts in Photoshop also take time to learn. I ́ve experienced a bunch of shortcuts that I can’t remember at all like, x, and w. These are simple letters but the shortcuts are way cooler. Why don’t you just show us the shortcuts, it would honestly be way easier. I notice that in Photoshop, you really have to pay attention cause sometimes the changes you make may be permanent and you might have to start from scratch no matter what part you’r at. Photoshop really has been cool though cause it’s amazing what it can really do to pictures of different kinds, even pics of yourself can be done with Photoshop. The color thing in Photoshop is the best so far cause anything can look better with color, plus with all the other things you can do you can make a great pic of whatever you want. Well it’s been real but this is my spill on Photoshop.
