In my family, education is extremely important. My mother and father stay on me and my siblings about our grades and we are expected to do well in school at all times. I usually keep good grades and I am a very hard worker. This class has been the most difficult class I have had since being at DSA. I couldn’t figure out why I just couldn’t keep up wit this class.
Since COVID-19 it has been a little difficult to stay focused and adjust to doing all my work online. My mom is working from home too so we had a family meeting and decided that we needed to have structure just like a regular school day in order for help our focus. Each morning we all get up and hop on our computers by 9am. We have to come out of our bedrooms and downstairs to a quiet room to work. No TVs are allowed to be on. Sometimes my mom plays soft music in the background while we all work. By 2pm if we are all finished, we can go on with whatever we want to do for the rest of the day. If I am still working on assignments, I may take a break then keep working. Also, to make sure I don’t miss any assignments, each Sunday I write down everything that is due the upcoming week for every class and I review it with my mom. She checks back in on Friday morning to be sure I completed everything. Most of my teachers send a text when they are having extras Zooms or extra credit assignments. That is helpful. I also keep in touch with my classmates from all my classes in case I miss a zoom or something. It was really rough at first but I have a good flow now and I am doing well and keeping up with everything. I really miss being in school but it is cool getting to hang out with my family every day.
